This project is a good example of a day-to-day, minute-by-minute collaboration between a designer and a contractor. A Japanese designer, who knew very little about American building processes, was engaged to design this interior. We worked from his sketches and mock-ups, in discussion, to achieve his designs. Almost nothing was off-the-shelf. Siena used its own shop capabilities to fabricate cabinetry, beams, doors, and other wood elements.
